Spotted Gar - a photo on Flickriver

Spotted Gar

There was an awesome spotted gar in the wetlands portion of Heard wildlife refuge. Not my first gar but the plumpest I've ever seen. It is spawning season so I believe this was a female full of eggs. It was sunny & she seemed to be enjoying basking in the warmth at the surface.
