Marble, Antonine period (138-161 CE), after a Greek work of the 4th c. BCE. Height: 56.5 cm (22.2 in). Provenance unknown.

Interesting to note that the colored marble plinth upon which it rests is composed of spolia - marbles that were used in ancient Roman public or private buildings. The trade in exotic marbles didn't restart after the Classical era until the 18th (?) century, so all of the medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque colored marble in churches and palazzos in Rome are spolia from ancient Rome.

Very difficult to photograph, since the color of the marble and the color of the silk wallpaper are almost identical!
