A Study in Scarlet

            DB Workhorse 185 364 adds to the freight traffic on the centre roads at Petržalka having just arrived with a long rake of empty Laaers*.

Despite my best efforts in P/S to try and tone down this vision in Vermilion the image has an overwhelming red hue to it, the loco and consist obviously contribute to my Crimson conundrum but the Ruddy rendition is not helped by the colouration of the box wagons or indeed the Martian-like surface under the rails.

"A Study in Scarlet", published in 1887 was the first appearance in print of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's celebrated detective Sherlock Holmes and his companion Dr John Watson. The legendary sleuth once exclaimed;

“When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth." This brings us back to the image and my Claret-tinged conclusion that things can get really red at Petržalka - thanks Holmes!

*I took a guess, In the healthcare sector of Speech Therapy they used to talk about people "having trouble with their 'R's" -  well I'm having trouble with my 'Laaers', I can't tell a Laaer from a Laae, or a Laaek, or a Laekk - good grief, I'm sure in the UK we used to just call all these things Cartics.... Grrrrr.
