I opened the small silk purse my sister had left and peered inside. Finding nothing but a pink note with handwriting… it stated:
“There is more than one way to skin a cat”

I chuckled before reading in on…

“Being too sleepy to put our jewels away, we rich birds left them about. We hope no burglar comes in to take them.
P.S. Do the redheads first. Her’s are the better ones. “

I grinned…
“The games still afoot.”

I waited another hour smoking the last of my cigar with yet another Irish whisky after finishing the one I had.

I finally rose from my chair, put out my cigar, then did a good stretch. It was time to “ice” the cake.

The house was all dark as I walked towards it. I went in through the patio doors and then made my way to the main entrance.

The only sound I heard was the rhythmic clicking of the grandfather clock in our foyer. It was 15 minutes past the hour, so I had 45 minutes before it chimed again, just in case the noise woke my victims.

I slipped into the den located to the right of the stairs. There I got a small pencil-sized torch that my father keeps there.

I hesitated at the bottom of the stairs to get in character.

In my mind I replayed the “thief” at the Ball who spying on the costly broach my sister was innocently wearing on her sensual satin gown. Curious, I then moved in for a better look. That was when I spotted the valuable sparklers on her sexy friend’s wrist.

In my mind, I also played out dancing with pretty Cadie, who was naive to my true nature. I gleaned enough information from her by asking “innocent” questions to learn where the two of them(and their jewels) would be spending the night. Learning both were staying the evening G the same address. both together, both alone once I took care of the brother.

Being “arrested” was a ruse I set up with my lads to take any suspicion off me.

I had come across the brother as I snuck in through the woods. He sitting outside smoking a cigar, a glass of amber liquid at his elbow. Curiously there was a black silk clutch purse on the table.

I snuck up behind him and coshed him out cold with my blackjack. Then using the rope I always carried to subdue my victims if necessary, I tied him up securely and gagged him silent.

I picked up the purse and read a note that helpfully told me the girls for some reason were leaving their jewels out in case a burglary occurred?

Which brought me to present, a thief at their stairs.

I now moved quietly as a mouse up those stairs.

Reaching to top landing I listened. Not a sound was coming from any of the bedrooms on this floor.

I thought about exchanging my blue silk shirt for the black turtleneck in my room but didn’t want to waste any more time.

The red-headed young girl was in the room directly in front of me, her friend(and the bracelet) was in the guest room next door. Both doors were ajar. No light was seen filtering out onto the wood floor of the hallway.

I carefully opened her bedroom door and peeked inside. I could see her lying on the bed under a peach-colored silk blanket, she was snoring happily away looking very pretty clad in chocolate-colored satin long-sleeved pjs.

Turning on my torch I carefully swept the room using the beam of light.

Immediately some gemstones blazed to life over on her vanity. I moved towards it, carefully watching the bed for signs of stirring.

Upon the vanity were piled her emerald/ diamond encrusted earrings and necklace.

I scooped them up and placed them into the purse I was still carrying. No sign of the rest, and though I could leave behind her real gemstone bracelet and rings, I was not leaving the room without her broach.

Standing in place I rescanned the room, at a much slower pace.

I noticed that the closet door was slightly ajar. A slip of her green satin gown had prevented it from closing properly.

Slinking over I opened it, hungrily examining the sleekly strikingly lovely thing. No broach.

But next to the gown was hanging the black satin robe she had been wearing. I frisked it, my heart began pounding as I felt something hard in the side pockets. Reaching in I pulled out the bracelet and two rings she had been wearing out.

I now had everything but her opulent broach.

I turned and leaving the closet door open walked back to the bed. I looked down upon the sleeping girl, her soft red hair splayed about the peach silk pillowcase.

Then my heart leaped. For underneath that pillow, I saw the end of the black satin sash that went with her robe.

Adrenaline racing throughout my body, I scooted down on my knees and began pulling it out.

Someone definitely was making the job difficult.

Feeling the ribbon catching the pillow from underneath, I slowly worked at it, keeping an eye upon the sleeping girl.

Finally, it all came out, plopping onto the rug. There it lay, her sparking diamond broach. The little snot had attached it to the satin sash and hidden it under her pillow.

With excited, trembling, fingers I held the broach while admiring its rich radiance. I looked over at the sleeping girl, still richly attired in satin. She was smiling, happily dreaming, and utterly clueless that a thief was stealing her jewels literally from underneath her sleeping nose.

I rose, my objectives met, blowing a kiss to my victim, I carefully snuck back out of her room, preparing to also rob the rich girl sleeping next door of her valuable jewels.

I carefully moved to the open door of the guest room where I knew the second pretty bird sleeping in white satin would be found.

Reaching the room, I carefully opened the door a bit more, then slipped on inside.

I could hear the vivacious girl softly snoring on the bed located near the window. She had kept the shades open, the moonlight streaming in gave me ample light to see her white satin gown-covered figure lying out upon the bedsheets, her back to me, the long silken curls of her hair spilling over the side of the bed.

I turned on my thin torch, allowing its beam to scan along the bedsheets. Surprisingly they did shimmer, someone had put black satin sheets upon the guest room bed? My already aroused emotions churned exponentially as I observed the sexily stimulating pretty picture this all created. Just her jewels were missing from it to make it perfect.

I started to scan around the room at that point. On the old oak vanity in the corner, my beam captures the glitter of jewels. I walk over and see that her four rings are there. They are in an arrow pattern. I turn to where the arrow is pointing with my torch beam following.

There hanging between the wall and the large oak wardrobe is her sleek black satin gown and the matching jacket. From the jacket erupts the blazing diamonds that are set into her owl-shaped pin.

I turned back, scooping up her rings and plopping them all inside the now nicely weighty purse.

I then turned my beam back onto her gown and walked over thoroughly enjoying the dazzlingly flickering show her owl-shaped pin was putting on for me.

Reaching the corner I ran my fingers along the scintillating satiny material, then reaching the expensively jewelled pin, I put the torch in my mouth and using both hands opened the clasp and gently pulled it off its slick perch, then placed it inside the silk clutch purse with its sparkling mates.

With the torch back in my left hand, I continued to scan the room, drooling in my excitement to find the rest of her jewels, especially that lovely bracelet I had seen her wearing out that evening.

I searched around the room, my heart pounding so hard that I was sure Ginny, er my thief’s victim, sleeping on the bed, would hear it.

Stymied I finally cast my light on the white satin-clad figure laying on that bed. Her back was to me, so I walked around and as the beam from my torch touched her on the other side, I was almost blinded by the blazing jewels that it touched.

She had worn the rest of her diamonds to bed, earrings, necklace, and bracelet.

“You imp!” I thought smiling.

I dropped the purse and torch in my excitement, eagerly prepared to meet this last challenge.

I approached closer to the sleeping girl, looking quite lovely in her scintillating white satin nightgown and her diamonds, flirting with my thief’s desires as they glittered away.

How many times In long years past have burglars come into a lady's chambres to discover she was sleeping with her jewellery on to keep them safe? How many times were those valuables successfully lifted from their sleeping mistress? Well, this thief was about to find out.

I watched her as she innocently slept, deciding how I was going to take the jewels without waking her.

She was sleeping on her side, long curled hair pooled around her. Only one long earring was visible, her necklace was lying out from her throat, shimmering upon the satin sheet. Her arm from which the diamond bracelet was wrapped around her wrist laid out just below her necklace.

The glamorous bracelet was glistening royally on the sleeping Girl’s wrist. As I looked down upon it I thought…
“And there’s the rub, the only piece of fake jewellery the either of girls had been wearing with all their real ones, appeared to be the most expensive of the lot.

I decided to start by slipping it from her wrist, then I would go for her necklace, leaving the trickily positioned diamond earrings for last.

I leaned over her lovely sleeping figure. Lifting her wrist I felt underneath for the clasp and delicately pressed it open. Then I began to carefully lift it off.

But, too late, as I pulled it up, I felt something tug. I realized it was a trap. Ginny had tied a thread to the bracelet and around her finger. She felt the tugging on the said finger, waking instantly.

The game had been afoot. But it wasn’t mine I realized as Ginny quickly reached up, grasping ahold of me, and pulled my body over onto the bed, then jumped on top of my figure.

As I lay pinned underneath her squirming gowned, hotly aroused(I might add), figure I heard her say
“I caught a thief haven’t I”

And the rest I will have to leave to the reader’s imagination, just make it a vivid one and you’ll have the picture.

Though Ginny did learn about the perils of sleeping with a jewel thief. Discovering that when she awoke in the morning the slippery scoundrel had absconded, taking all her precious diamonds with him. Including those she had slept with.
