43314 Marholm 12/08/15 - 1S25 1630 London Kings Cross to Edinburgh

            HST 43314 races along the East Coast Main Line at Marholm, near Peterborough, on the 12th August 2015. The difficulties faced running a successful franchise along this line can be witnessed in this shot. The consist features a variety of liveries, with the HST power car sporting temporary Virgin branding over the previous government run 'East Coast' franchise. Furthermore, the MK3 coaching stock contrasts with the white and grey 'National Express East Coast' franchise, which ran services from 2007-2009 before running into financial difficulty. The Virgin Trains East Coast franchise was far from successful either, lasting just 3 years before the contract would be terminated early by the government for under performance.
