Pioneer CK 18 is a 1864 Essex Smack seen in the Colne Estuary 03 July 2021

Seen in the Colne Estuary returning from a cruise is the last of the larger size Essex Fishing Smacks - Pioneer CK 18.
Built in 1864 and originally based at Brightlingsea dredging deep sea oysters.
Decommissioned and turned into a house boat at East Mersea in 1939.
Salvage and restoration started in 1999 and she first sailed again in 2004.
Now a sail training ship for young people operated by the Pioneer Sailing Trust.
