Duisburger Verkehrsgesellschaft tram 1002 stands at the arrivals platform at the Dinslaken Bf stop (the northern extremity of the DVG system, and actually outside the municipality of Duisburg), having arrived with a route 903 service from Hüttenheim Mannesmann Tor 2. This is a view of the rear of the tram. Close to departure time of 15.20, the tram then ran via the balloon loop in the distance to the departures platform on the left, where we boarded to travel to the other end of the line. The DVG tram system is standard gauge.

This was my third weekend visit to Germany in a little over two months, at the end of January, end of February / start of March, and end of March. All were for freight line railtours on the mainline railway (the first and last being just on the Saturday, but the middle one being a three-day affair), and on all three occasions I spent much of the day I few out as well as much of the day I flew back gricing various tram networks. In particular, I covered much of the linked networks in Essen and Mülheim (as well as all of Potsdam and chunks of Bremen, plus, on this day, small parts of Duisburg and Krefeld). Having finished the Mülheim network (including the section in Oberhausen owned by STOAG), we'd arrived here by mainline train from Oberhausen-Sterkrade. We only had time to do this route before taking the train to Krefeld, where there was time to do one tram route before having dinner and then catching a train to Weeze for our late evening flight back to Stansted.
