More observed, more speculated over, more mysterious, more moody, more travelled than many stretches of water in the world.
Renowned for its hypothetical prehistoric remnants.
Never still, never frozen, atmospheric.
Such is this 25 mile chasm of peaty water.
Deep.
Ever-changing.
Part of a water-filled fault-line over two hundred miles long.
Charismatic and brooding in all weathers.
But it is most intriguing when the mists descend
and cloud, sky, loch and hillsides merge into one.
Sombre perspectives on the iconic Loch Ness
that can haunt the uninitiated and, sometimes,
cause the imagination to do over-time!?
