One foggy afternoon, a young Cooper's hawk showed up, hoping for lunch with the doves.

            For an hour, it waited, looking left and right, clenching and unclenching its claws, one then the other, unaware that the doves had eaten much earlier in the day and flown off to their home in the eucalyptus grove.
