Kersal Flats, Salford in the 1970s and in 2008

A view of Kersal Way from near the junction with Kingsley Avenue. The top picture was taken in the 1970s. You can see how lively and full the estate is. From left to right you can see Keats Court, Browning House, Shakespeare House, Jonson House, Spencer House, Milton House and finally Cowper House on the right. In the middle you can see the medical centre which served the community. In the bottom right you can see the Castle Pub. The bottom picture was taken on the 31st January 2008. You can see what a mess had been made of the estate some 30 years later.
