And at last, they came back. When I first got to Cheshire Oaks, aftter my disaster first spot, I clocked two of these E200MMCs stopped over on the 2. They drove off before I could catch up and photograph them. And so commenced an hour's worth of waiting for them to eventually catch back up in pairs here at Cheshire Oaks.

Anyway, the buses themselves are rather remarkable. Stagecoach Merseyside gained the operations of Chester's Park & Ride services following their acquisition of a defeated First Chester and the Wirral in early 2013, operated at the time using a fleet of First-spec Wright-bodied Volvos that came over to the company - today, those buses are all down in Grimsby! Three years later, the ex-First buses were displaced by a brand-new fleet of Enviro200 MMCs for Park & Ride services, uniquely being equipped with rooftop air conditioning units and tinted windows. Now, when this vehicle was freshly displaced from the Chester Park & Ride back in summer 2022, Stagecoach’s paint shops had a momentary lapse of reason and decided to paintbucket over every single black piece of trim into 2020 local services livery. The result was… genuinely quite unpleasant to look at, from an aesthetics point of view. Thankfully, cooler heads managed to prevail earlier this year, resulting in 26060 being given its black trim back in a style not to dissimilar to MMCs in the East Midlands subsidiary. Just to think, a couple of months ago, I would've been admonishing the painters for a very utilitarian job. Goes to show the differences of each division's paintshops!
