Class B1, locomotive, No.61360, of Doncaster M.P.D., Shed No.36A, and built by the North British Locomotive Company Ltd, Glasgow, in 1950, stands at Platform No.3, at Sheffield Victoria Station, whilst hauling the R.C.T.S., ‘The High Peak Rail Tour’, on 27/06/1964. On the adjacent loop-line, stands Class 30/2, locomotive, No.D5862, of Tinsley M.P.D., Shed No.41A, built by Brush Traction Ltd, Falcon Works, Loughborough, in 1962.
Class B1, locomotive, No.61360, was built by North British Locomotive Company Ltd, Glasgow, to Order No.L997, and Works No.26819, in 1950, as Class B1, and delivered, new, to British Railways, Stratford M.P.D., (Shed No.30A), as No.61360, on 22/03/1950. The locomotive was transferred to Colchester M.P.D., (Shed No.30E), on 06/01/1957, and from there, to Cambridge M.P.D., (Shed No.31A), on 12/04/1959, and from there, to Doncaster M.P.D., (Shed No.36A,), on 01/11/1959, and as seen here, and from where, it would be withdrawn from service, on 17/04/1966. It is reported that the locomotive was transferred, ‘dead-engine’, to George Cohen and Sons Limited, Cransley, near Kettering, on 14/07/1966, and where, it is believed to have been scrapped, sometime during August and September 1966.
Class 30/2, locomotive, No.D5862, was built by Brush Traction Ltd, Falcon Works, Loughborough, to Works No.398, in 1962, as Class 30/2, and delivered, new, to British Railways, Sheffield Darnall M.P.D., (Shed No.41A), as No.D5862, on 25/10/1962. The locomotive was transferred, to Tinsley M.P.D., (Shed No.41A), on 26/04/1964, and from there, to Immingham M.P.D., (Shed No.40B), on 05/03/1966, and from there, back to Tinsley M.P.D., (Shed No.41A), on 07/03/1970, and from there, back to Immingham T.M.D., (Shed Code IMM), on 10/11/1973. Following the installation of a new engine, in March 1966, the locomotive was re-designated, as Class 31/1, and the locomotive was renumbered, as No.31327, on 02/02/1974. Following withdrawal from service the locomotive was purchased for preservation, at the Strathspey Railway, Boat of Garten.
