Locomotive, ‘H.C. No.2’, built by Hudswell, Clarke and Company Limited, Leeds, in 1960, is seen here, at Dodworth Colliery, Dodworth, near Barnsley, on 19/02/1970. The locomotive is about to proceed back, onto the adjoining British Railways running line, (formerly South Yorkshire Railway, formerly Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway, formerly Great Central Railway), which it will use as a ‘head-shunt’, as part of this wagon manoeuvring exercise.

Locomotive, ‘H.C. No.2’, was built by Hudswell, Clarke and Company Limited, Leeds, to Works No.1890, in 1960, for the National Coal Board, and supplied new to Dodworth Colliery, where it acquired the designation, “N.C.B. No.5 Area, H.C. No.2”. Here the locomotive was to remain, for the duration of its operational life, until withdrawn from service, and subsequently scrapped, on-site, at Dodworth Colliery, week-ending 08/03/ 1975.
