Milan Stumbling Block - Dante Villa

            Dante Villa was born in Milan on July 2, 1922. He was a worker at Innocenti in Lambrate with the qualification of founder. He took part in the general strike, called by the C.L.N.A.I. Comitato di Liberazione Nazionale Alta Italia (Northern Italy Liberation Committee), which began on March 1, 1944 and continued for eight days. On March 10, 1944, the SS entered the Lambrate plant and arrested 15 workers by name, including Dante Villa. Taken to San Vittore, after a few days he was transferred to Bergamo and from there on March 16, 1944 with “transport 34” he was deported to Mauthausen, registration number 59192. He died on April 22, 1945.
