St Mark's Anglican Church, Aberdeen, NSW, 1914

St Mark's Anglican church at Aberdeen (11 km north of Muswellbrook) was opened in 1914. It was designed by Frederick George Castleden, in Federation Carpenter Gothic style, with seating for 400 parishioners. He was also responsible for churches at Singleton and Teralba.

By the time this church had opened, Aberdeen had a butter and bacon factory, a general cemetery, a court-house, a flour mill, a lock-up, a meat works, a Methodist church, a post office, a Presbyterian church, a police station, road and rail bridges, a public pound for stock, a rifle range, a Catholic church, a railway service, a public school, a telegraph office and a telephone exchange. However, the residents had suffered both floods and typhoid by 1914.
