Down in the valley - a photo on Flickriver

Down in the valley

            During our first chase of the morning regio train R5472 from Piatra Neamț to Bicaz, everything was very chaotic. We didn't know what to do, where to head, where to take pictures, how to overtake the train etc. The lighting situation is very difficult here, with the way the line is located, and where the sun is pointing from in the early morning, so we had to improvise a lot.

One of the completely accidental pictures was the one we took here in Tarcău Neamț, which is the last station and stop of the train, before it would reach Bicaz over 10 minutes later (at a snail's pace).

In Tarcău we are greeted with a very tranquil atmosphere. The morning fog is still slowly rising from the valleys below and the sun has yet to have reached the station from behind the steep hills. In this lush green landscape, the train, headed by 60-1017, is slowly drawn to a halt. The stop would only last for mere seconds, as nobody boarded the train and no one exited it either. The light on the signal turns to green and the station dispatcher comes out of the very Romanian-style building to confirm the departure of the train with a hand signal. Off we go to Bicaz!
