Sumatra amber pendant celtic tree style necklace handmade in 925 sterling silver

            The inspiration for this design was one of honouring what's inside of us. After shaping the stone, I left most of the surface of the amber in a semi matte raw state, with only a small area at the front and back being polished, to create a window of sorts, into the world of the amber; when we look inside, we can see things in there that we wouldn't normally see. In life, I feel this kind of sums us up too - as we grow, we learn to balance the raw part of ourselves, with the aspects of us we've smoothed and matured in. I used the motiff of a tree and the knots of its roots, to hold the amber gemstone in, as it represents amber's origins as ancient resin which spilled from a tree as a protective measure if it got damaged or cut (a nod to this is found on the chain the pendant comes on as well, which has two curious little sterling silver swirls which mimic the swirling dripping of amber resin).
