Surrey Rifle Association - runners-up prize medal (1953)

The Surrey Rifle Association (SRA) was founded in 1860 and is an affiliation of Surrey based rifle target shooting clubs. They also offer affiliation to others clubs throughout the UK and abroad. Today, the SRA is a UK registered charity and one of the oldest rifle associations in Britain.

There are many benefits for the Association’s club members beside opportunities for recreational and competitive target shooting. Members can also avail of the Association’s clubhouse facilities, shooting ranges, approval for a Home Office Firearm Certificate, secure storage of firearms and training.

This prize medal was awarded to the runner-up under-16s competitors in the 1953 Surrey Schools Challenge Bowl. It features the SRA’s heraldic shield.
