            The heart of our house is the kitchen, and this was mine on Jan. 1, ready for our annual Hoppin' John party.
Working around the room, you'll see two huge pots of Hoppin' John on the stove, bags of pre-mixed dry ingredients for cornbread, measuring bowl for mixing the cornbread, crockpot for serving the Hoppin' John, ceramic pot for serving the cornbread, bowls, spoons and napkins at the ready. Just after I took this photo, people started arriving -- we had 33 in all. A great way to start the year!
