Partridge Block / Partridge Building - Seneca Falls

            Looking down the Partridge Block.   The large  brick building with awnings is the Partridge Building.    The Partridge Building, while fronting on Fall Street as a two story  structure, from the Cayuga-Seneca Canal behind the building, it is a four story structure.  The building features two unique apartments on the top floor, five retail / office storefronts on the first floor (Fall St  side) and village meeting rooms (lower floors - canal side of bldg).   Now a little bit of history:   It is a local landmark due to it association with Erastus Partridge, a mid-19th century community leader, banker and industrialist.  Throughout  the  1890s and into the 1900s the Partridge Building had a wide array of tenants including  a bookstore, clothing stores, a  lawyers office, a dentist's office, a newspaper (the Courier from 1892-1940), a beauty shop and citizen clubs.  In 1990 the building also became the home of  the Seneca Falls Heritage Area Visitor Center ( in 2010  they moved to a new location, 89 Fall St. -  in the Seneca Museum of Waterways & Industry Building).
