L for Leader - a photo on Flickriver

L for Leader

            PA474 was built near Chester in 1945 as a B Mk 1 and was being readied to join Tiger Force, to go to the far east to help defeat Japan when the war ended. Put in to storage she was used as a photo reconnaissance aircraft for a while, used in trials and appeared in a number of films. In 1964 it was looked after by the RAF Air Historical Branch which by 1973 became the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
