Baby Bedhead - a photo on Flickriver

Baby Bedhead

            These three baby tricolor herons were all awake and waiting for a food delivery. One parent is in the nest with them while the other is out having some me time.

This nest was not in an ideal spot for photography in terms of light and composition but they were to cute to pass up.

Tricolored Herons are colonial nesters, often nesting with other herons and egrets. They typically breed on islands or higher ground with dense vegetation. Males tend to pick a spot in a shady and dense tree or shrub up to 13 feet above the ground or water.
