The frog is a vase and placecard holder. I use it for finials that broke off of my lamps. The tray behind was my mother's, it's hammered aluminum and I use it for under my Hanukkah candles as it reflects the light upwards beautifully. My mother collected green glass and had a box for me in the garage. She gave it to Goodwill before she died. I was waiting until I didn't have little kids and teenagers all about the place to display them. Also truth be told, when you're a primary caregiver and working full time, you don't have time to do decorating. I remember her giving these things to me. We spent a weekend together in the garage. She had put little notes on each item telling where she had gotten each item and what they were. She wanted me to keep them until the kids were grown and to pass them on. After she'd written down everything we repacked them for safe keeping. She did this with me after she was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer and given six months to live. She lived with me for 11 years with active cancer. I was saddened when my neighbor told me that while I was at work, truckloads of stuff were going out of the garage for Goodwill. It was all of her Jadite, green glass, cut glass, ceramics, brass, Corningwear, Pyrex, etc. She was quite a collector. I got that bug from her. It saddens me to know that she stopped loving life at the end. It was heartbreaking. She said she'd do it all over again and not have me as I was a burden to her. I wonder what people thought seeing boxes come in with loving notes "this is depression glass I got at Ralph's secondhand place with you, I want you to give this to Laurel when she is grown." She did however give me a gift on how to die with dignity. I though want to die with no regrets and full of love.
