Victoria Law Courts - a photo on Flickriver

This splendid building was a wonderful suprise for me at the end of Corporation St in central Brum!
It's faced with Ruabon terracotta, with yellow terracotta inside. I was most fortunate with the clear sky and mid-morning sunshine for my photos, although quite a few I've not included here, as the shadow on the lower part of the building was too deep.
It seems that a replacement court will be moved into at some point in the future, making this one redundant, so I hope that plans are afoot to utilise it well!
As it's a Grade 1 Listed Building, there is some protection, for this Aston Webb and Ingress Bell designed assizes courts, which were opened in 1891 by the Prince 7 Princess of Wales, after Queen Victoria, who lends her name to the courts, laid the Foundation Stone in 1887.
I was very keen to get inside and photograph the large foyer and its stained glass, but wasn't allowed in!!
