POPLAR COTTAGE, ASTON, S YORKSHIRE_DSC3883_z50_LR

This cottage in Aston includes a timber-framed farmhouse which dates from early C17. The original farm was extended in late C17/ early C18 to create 2 cottages, now known as Poplar Cottage and Orchard Cottage. Poplar cottage was then altered in circa 1960's by the addition of a single-storey to the right and the rear. In 2021 the internal arrangement of rooms has been extensively re-ordered and the single storey part to the right (visible with a garage door) has been raised to the full height of the original roofline, some 4 windows added to the front elevation and 6 velux windows added to the slate roof.
