Debris/storage & Industrial units, Aston, S Yorkshire_4816nx

            There are several industrial units off Brookhouse Road (previously known as Brookhouse Lane) and Manfield Rd in Aston, S Yorkshire. This area is on the site of a coal mine called North Staveley whose pit was opened in 1864.  The small community for the workers was called Aston Terrace. Most of the houses were demolished in the 1960's but the Deputies houses remained until about 1980. The community also included a Methodist chapel that was built in 1879 by the Colliery Company and closed in 1953 when a new chapel opened on Lodge Lane about 400 yards away. Part of the North Staveley Chapel was visible in an industrial unit until the 1990's.
About 15 industrial units now occupy the area.
