Whatever happened to Waterside?

            Bottle kilns against what could be a smoke filled sky, shot into a low wintery sun. 
These two bottle kilns, once belonging to the Johnson Brothers Trent Works sanitary ware factory on Eastwood Road, Hanley, now lie in a wasteland beside the Caldon canal whilst the evidence of new housing can be seen in the background, all part of the Waterside redevelopment.
These kilns were built in the late neneteenth century, the works opening in 1896, and are like all of the Potteries existing bottle kilns, grade II listed.
