A marriage of old and new. - a photo on Flickriver

            The old façade of The Victoria Hall and its modern extension sit on Bagnall Street in the Cultural Quarter of Hanley.
Originally built in 1887 to 1888 to coincide with Queen Victoria's Jubilee, it was an extension to the existing Town Hall, which can be seen to the left. 
The Victoria Hall, along with the Town Hall, has grade II listed status.
The modern extension to the right was opened in 1998 and was instrumental in the foundation of the city's Cultural Quarter, along with work to the nearby Regents Theatre. Designed by architects, Levitt Bernstein Associates, the recent update has been heralded as a nationally important example of a sympathetic marriage of  new styling to an old building without diminishing the older architecture.
