What's become of the Potteries? - a photo on Flickriver

            The old Port Vale Mills flour mill, of Fitton & Pidduck, Limited, sits beside the Trent and Mersey canal in Middleport, Stoke-on-Trent. The bridge leads onto Pidduck Street and Milvale Street (once Bridge Street) beyond.
Not far from this site was the old Co-operative bakery and the chimney in the background belongs to the Middleport Pottery of Burgess and Leigh, still the home of Burleigh ware.
Sadly, this is a common sight in and around Stoke-on-Trent where once proud buildings of the industrial revolution decay through neglect, although there are plans in place to redevelop this site.
I can't seem to find a date for the construction but it does appear on maps dating back to the mid nineteenth century.
