Built as an extension and addition to the rear of the Town Hall in Stoke, the Kings Hall runs down Kingsway towards Glebe Street at the far right of the shot.
The ground to the left and behind where the shot was taken from is the old Spode pottery works.
Designed by T. Wallis and J. A. Bowater, of London following the federation of the six towns of Stoke-on-Trent in 1910, most of the works being completed by 1911. The hall was built to seat 3250 people.
Following this work the Jubilee Hall was constructed in the main block of the town hall in 1935 as an assembly room for a further 1400 people.
The angle of the shot, to get the full elevation, obscures the detail around the main entrance, between the Ionic columns, with all of its detailed stonework.
This building, along withe the earlier town hall, of 1834, are grade II listed.
