Chequered Swallowtail Butterfly - Papilio demoleus

            The early stages of this caterpillar resemble birds droppings and will later become green with dark markings that will give it good camouflage. All species of Swallowtail caterpillars can secrete a bad-selling and bad-tasting chemicals to help keep their predators away. Will feed on Citrus and plants of the Pea family. Formerly absent in Borneo and now one of the most common butterflies this species can also be found Asia, Australia, India, and other various countries in the Middle East.  Unlike other swallow butterflies that are named after their tails  the Chequered Swallow Butterfly is actually tailless and is the only one of this family not to have one.
