Clarisel Gonzalez at Latinas En Foco Opening

Here's my friend. :-)

Clarisel Gonzalez is a freelance photographer and writer I met through Flickr. She founded Puerto Rico Sun Commnications, a media service dedicated to informing and building community among the Puerto Rican population in New York City in general and the Puerto Rican population of the Bronx in particular.

The exhibit Clarisel is participating in is "Latinas En Foco," an exhibit at the Clemente Soto Velez Cultural Center on Sufiolk Street in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Clarisel is one of nine female Hispanic photographers participating in this exhibit.

This was at the opening night reception. I arrived before Clarisel did, and she didn't see me when she came in. I tried to surprise her by going up to her and taking her picture but, alas, she saw me first.

I took her picture anyway. :-)
