Serial number 26413 first flew on September 19, 2001 and began its career as HL7466 with Korean Air Lines Co., Ltd. on September 28, 2001. 

The aircraft is named "Dwight Palmer", in honour of a former Kalitta Air employee. 

Conrad "Connie" Kalitta founded the cargo airline in 1967 with a single Cessna 310. Today Kalitta Air operates a fleet of 37 wide-body Boeings including 22 747-400s, 7 777-300ERs and 8 777Fs.
