"shiver me timbers!" - a photo on Flickriver

Inspired title from "our new little secret!" Yes we (Dr. Dru Dodd, Michael Straker and myself) had hoped to keep this little beauty all to ourselves! However, we've agreed to share her!

This is "not THE missing" shipwreck that's not been seen since 2009 but another one! Yes a Brucie bonus indeed! Paul Appleby knows I'm a keen shipwreck spotter/fan so when he spotted it on Friday night he dropped me a text! I couldn't believe my eyes/ears when I heard the news! I'd informed Dru & Michael of the find and they headed out to see it for themselves - there was also a chance of the aurora too!

I decided to be sensible and head up at 2.30am for the 4.40am sunrise! Well that was the plan after my alarm went off at 2am I sent a quick message to Dru and then erm fell back asleep! Bugger missed it! But when I saw Paul Appleby's image I was amazed to see this is another shipwreck! Yep the one I'm after is on the right of the castle and not the left!

So on Sunday night I decided that I felt a chance to grab a sunset and shipwreck was too good to miss out on! So off I headed for Bamburgh arriving at around 8pm! Once onto the beach it was a case of wandering around looking for a shipwreck!

The tide was on her way out but wasn't due to be at her lowest until 11.30pm (0.3m) and with sunset at 9.30pm I figured this could work out well! I reckon I found the wreck by 8.30pm as part of her structure was poking out in the surf!

So after posting the above two images on Instagram I got a text from Dru saying he was on his way with Michael! Which was great to get some company for the last couple of hours on the beach! Make sure to see the guy's photostream to see their great work!

All in all a great night some cracking company and banter! However, I could have done with some help getting off the beach! In the dark I took a wrong turn and ended up coming out onto the cricket pitch in front of the castle and not by the carparks at the end of the Wynd! Then when I finally got to my car, I couldn't get my right wellie off for about 20 minutes I was jumping around like a madman! At one point I'd thought I'd have to ring the lads to come back to help me out! I'd taken on so much water it acted like a plunger and had sucked it's self to my feet! I had to roll them down and get my fingers in and bail out the water! Finally free from me wellies I could start the long journey home!

This image shows the Farne Islands in the distance, the scene of a very recent shipping instance when a ship got herself grounded against the rocks! Sadly they were able to rescue the vessel and move it off the rocks - otherwise I know some lads who would have been rowing out there! ;o)
