20130823 Christ Church Spire

The spire and Eastern rose window of Christ Church Cathedral, in the university of Oxford, seen from Merton Field.

Originally the church of St Frideswide's Priory, it was built in the late 1100s, and modified in the 1500s, but restored by Gilbert Scott in the mid-1800s. It achieved cathedral status in 1954, and is one of the smallest cathedrals in the UK today.

Shot with a Nikon D7000 and a Nikkor AFS DX 18-200mm F/3.5-5.6G lens, and processed in GIMP and Photoscape.
