Cedar River Trail Bridge 2266-4 East Elevation Bottom Chord Connection Looking West

            Milwaukee Road Cedar River Bridge (c. 1909), now called Cedar River Trail Bridge 2266-4, is a three-span Pratt through truss steel railroad bridge over the Cedar River near Renton, at central Maple Valley in King County, Washington State. The bridge once carried the original Pacific Extension (from the Missouri River to Tacoma, Washington) of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad, better known as the Milwaukee Road. The Milwaukee Road was the United States’ last transcontinental railroad, which operated from 1847 to 1986. The Pacific Extension (comprising track through Montana, Idaho and Washington) was electrified between 1914 and 1916, and across Washington in 1920. The Pacific Extension was abandoned in 1980. The current day 17.3-mile Cedar River Trail between Renton and Landsburg was converted to multi-use trail in stages from the original rail alignment, retaining many original bridges of similar design and configuration.
