            Marriage remains a combination social structure: public vows for the couple and their constellation of friends and family that wish them well and seek to support their venture into wedded life, but also the government and its landscape of legal distinctions between married and unmarried. Property is part of the governmental concern - who is liable for damage caused by a person's actions (willful) or inactions (neglect).

On this altar at the wedding ceremony site and reception hall adjacent to it, the guest logbook with photos during the newly-wed's years of dating is being signed by those attending the wedding. On the other side the clergy who officiated is completing a form that is kept by local government to document the married status: "marriage license" or "wedding certificate."
