Someone To Watch Over Me: Ella with the London Symphony Orchestra (2017)

▶ Released 29 September 2017 on Ella Fitzgerald's centenary (1917-1996), Someone to Watch Over Me: Ella With the London Symphony Orchestra (Verve) features a dozen songs from her original recordings overlayed with new orchestrations, produced by James Morgan and Juliette Pochin, recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, with the London Symphony Orchestra.

▶ After the orchestra was recorded (playing arrangements by Jorge Calandrelli, and by Morgan and Pochin), Ms. Fitzgerald's vocals were added. There are two duets —one with Gregory Porter on "People Will Say We're in Love" and "They Can't Take That Away From Me" with Louis Armstrong.

▶ Ms. Fitzgerald's voice sounds ravishingly gorgeous, possibly even more so than on the original recordings from which the tracks were magically lifted.
