▶ "Salvia coccinea — commonly known as scarlet sage or blood sage — is a member of the mint family (Lamiaceae), native to Mexico and the southeastern United States. The plant grows 1 to 3 feet in height (0.3 - 1.0 m) and 1 to 2.5 feet in width (0.3 - 0.75 m). Its bright red flowers are 1 inch long (6.3 cm), arranged in loose whorls along the upright stem. The flowers bloom continuously from early summer to first frost, attractive to hummingbirds and butterflies."
