Wylam Diversion - a photo on Flickriver

Wylam Diversion

            43208 and 43307 pass along the bank of the River Tyne at Hagg Bank, Wylam, in the fading afternoon light with a train from Aberdeen to London. Due to problems with the overhead lines at Dunbar most trains were cancelled between Newcastle/Berwick and Edinburgh, with a few diverted via the West Coast and Tyne Valley lines.

I believe the train was cancelled at Newcastle, but continued to London running as a later service, possibly 1E19 1559 Newcastle - London Kings Cross which was cancelled between Edinburgh and Newcastle.

Hagg Bank bridge is visible in the background which carried the North Wylam line over the river.
