Lady And The Tramp

            Zippy died today.  Yesterday all the people she loved--mostly friends of my kids who have made our house their home away from home while growing up (and who many of you who are my friends on Flickr have watched grow up)--came to visit her.  She had cancer and only weeks to live and we decided to let her die now while she was still aware and functioning and before the onset of the inevitable pain and suffering that was only days away.  She was a rescue dog and we think we got her when she was about three years old and so are not sure of her exact age, but we calculate that she was thirteen or fourteen.  We loved her and she loved us, and she passed on peacefully  surrounded by that love.
