Parsley up close

            No, I haven't visited any jungles lately. This was a picture taken on the spur of the moment shortly after I came home from work one Monday. My wife had been to the store, and among her purchases that day was some fresh parsley, which I immediately decided would be a good subject for a depth-of-field experiment. I took it outside and placed it on the brick wall surrounding a flower bed, then mounted the camera on my tripod, set the exposure at f/36 for 10 seconds, started the timer, and let the camera do its work. This was the result. I had been trying to figure out how to achieve uniform depth of field in close-up shots, so I was very pleased with the way this turned out. It is not always possible to accomplish this, as, for instance, when I want to take a close-up of a flower and a steady breeze is blowing. But I was tickled by the results of this little experiment, and by the amount of detail it captured. (I used matrix metering here.)
