Ducks in pond

            Taken at the Gilbert Riparian Preserve. This was my first visit there in close to a year, I believe. Although it is only a few miles from where we live, I have avoided going there lately because both front tires on our car were bald, and I didn't want to do any unnecessary driving until they were replaced. But that was finally done yesterday, so now we are fully mobile again.

Late today I returned there with our son Colin, who had never seen the place before. I let him use my Nikon D50 to take some pictures of his own, which I assume he will be putting on Flickr later this week. It was his first experience with a DSLR camera, and I thought he did pretty well with it. With experience he will become even better, as he has a natural talent for photography -- and for just about any other kind of artistic endeavor, now that I think of it. 

This was among the first images I took during today's visit. The duck in the foreground is slightly out of focus, but I thought the defects in the picture were balanced off quite nicely by the reflections in the water, which are the main reason the image has ended up here on Flickr.
