The whole Knave at York Minster, England.

            Services are conducted in the knave to-day.  In mediaeval times it would have been used as a meeting place and a place of trading by the local population. (no doubt filled with chickens & ducks)  Only the educated wealthy and clerics would have been allowed beyond the quire screen to take part in church services, which would have been in latin and therefore meaningless to most of those in the knave.

York Minster is the seat of the Archbishop of York .  It is the mother church of the Northern Province and the cathedral for the diocese of York.  The Norman archbishop Thomas of Bayeux built a great cathedral here between 1080 and 1110.  It was changed and extended in the mid twelfth century by Archbishop Roger de Pont L'Eveque, who build a wonderful new quire. (other pictures can be seen in the York Minster set)
