SE-DDT SAS Douglas DC-9-41 in bare-metal finish at London Heathrow

As I approach the last few uploads of my 500 Boeing slides, scanned from my archives, here is a 'sneak preview' from my bespoke set of 79 Douglas DC-9s which have recently arrived back from the scanning department :) There will also be 90 DC-8s.

Again, I hope that they will provide some enjoyment and nostalgia from a bygone age.

As a taster, here we see SE-DDT - one of a small number of SAS DC9-41s that were turned out in an experimental bare-metal finish - the aircraft is lining up for runway 28R at London Heathrow on fight SK526. These shiny metal DC-9s looked really great in bright sunshine, but unfortunately the sun was hiding that day :)

SE-DDT c/n 47779 'Amund Viking' Douglas DC-9-41 - delivered new to SAS in March 1979 and flew with the airline for a very impressive 23 years! In 2002 it returned to the USA as N79XS with Finova Capital. It was stored in 2003 and scrapped at Roswell, New Mexico. Interestingly, the fuselage ended up converted to a house in Texas 2012!
