N187AT American Trans Air Lockheed L-1011-1-50 TriStar taxies for a runway 26 departure at London Gatwick

Gatwick in the 80s - a view from the Roof Terrace shows N187AT - one of American Trans Air's large fleet of Lockheed L-1011 TriStars, this on a converted Series 1 model - now a Series 50 longer-range model. In the foreground is British Caledonian BAC 1-11 G-AYOP, with another executive jet BAC 1-11 over in the maintenance area.

N187AT c/n 1077 Lockheed L-1011-1 TriStar - delivered new to Delta Air Lines as N707DA in May 1974 - flew with the airline for ten years before being sold to Boeing Aircraft Holdings for conversion to converted to L-1011-50. The aircraft went to American Trans Air as N187AT in 1985 and flew with them until 2000, after which it was stored at Victorville, CA and broken up around 2003.

Taken with a Soviet made Zenith TTL camera and 300mm lens, using Kodacolor CP100 print film. Scanned from the original negative without restoration.
