Actually, this Adidas Response CL hyper olive/modern grey colorway looks more like grey than green in person, but it changes its color depends on the lighting or the weather of the day. In my shoe room they look really green, but in my computer room they look more like cyan grey.
Anyway, I tried to compare the Adidas Response CL Olive with the Nike Vomero 5 Worn Blue, the NB 2002R Dark Camo (or Olive), the NB 1906R X (forest green silver) and the Response CL Raspberry Hyper Orange. I tried to include more shoes in this set then I must use a wider lens to shoot them all in one frame, so I just decided to frame the Response CL Olive this way with just the 4 other similar shoes.
I think these are some of most underrated shoes ever from any brand; these are super comfy for casual use and even for long really long walk, durable, easy to style, fit great without any heel slippage issue or any other fit related issues and I think these are cool especially on feet.
I used to love the Ultraboost DNA 4.0 and 5.0, and I used them as my everyday beaters, now I replaced most of my Boost and airmax 90's with these and similar NB and Nike shoes. I think the Response CL provide long lasting comfort, the midsole is a bit firmer compared to the really squishy running shoes midsole of today like the NB Fresh Foam X or Nike Zoom X, but these firmer but very stable midsoles last long time like a few years if you just use them for walking or casual stuffs. The Boost or the NB 990 V6 feel very comfy at your very first use or try of them, but they'll bottom out very quickly (in my case like in 4 months) if you walk in them very often. So, I am not a big fan of the Boost or the Fuel Cell midsole, I like the Zoom X, but all the Nike shoes use that midsole tech are serious running shoes or golf shoes, nothing else from Nike use that amazing tech in their midsole.
I think the Reebok's Floatride foam is also great, but it is also very easy to bottom out, never lasted more than 4 months for me. Personally, I love the React foam for walking, the midsole tech may not work well for serious runners as most of serious semi-pro like YouTube Runners criticize them boring or unresponsive, but for me the React is a great foam, the shoes use that tech last super long, the midsole is tough, never affected by any type of nasty weather we get here, and these shoes are literally indestructible. My Pegasus 37 and 36 still look like almost brand-new after 5 or 6 years of occasional uses. My Pegasus 40 look like still brand-new shoes even after 7 months of really serious abuse.
My first pair of Infinity React Run and v3 are still quite good, the V1 just exceeded the 600-mile mark and now these are just walking with my cats shoes.
I think these Adidas are like casual version of the Pegasus 40 or Infinity Run 3, they will last many years and I am sure they will be able to take lots of abuse. I think these are a bit like the NB 2002R and NB 1906R but a lot cheaper but more durable than the NB shoes. I compared the 2002R Dark Camo vs this pair of the Response CL for some long walks at night. I used this pair of the Response CL for the first 7k meters, and the NB for the second 7K meters, then I switched them to a pair of Nike P6000 Silver Blue.
I think the Adidas is the most comfortable shoe of the 3 and the Nike is the close second. The NB 2002R is the softest of the three, but for me it is the worst shoe for a long walk like my 7k test walk I did in them. Sure, the 2002R are very comfy shoes too for casual use cases, but for a long- or middle-distance walk, I think these Adidas Response CL or the Nike P6000 are a bit better shoes. Sure, if you do not mind the latest running or dedicated walking shoes, there are many more comfortable shoes, but these are not easy to style with just a typical pair of denim pants or corduroy pants.
So, I think these Response CL and Nike P6000 are some of the most practical shoes of the year 2023, and I must say these are some of the most amazing bargain shoes of the year 2023, the retail price for these is not very low, but you can often pick them up for like 50 dollars or a bit more than 50 bucks when they go super sell. I got them for just a bit shy of 45 dollars or 5000 yen in this BF season.
So, I can't complain anything about this amazing pair of Response CL. After I compared this pair of the Response CL vs the NB 2002R Dark Camo, I sold my second pair of the NB.
I do not want to say this as many people think I am a NB hater or something like that, but I must say that I think the NB 2002R and 1906R are super overpriced. These are great shoes too, but there are many better shoes that cost much less than these two NB y2k runners such as this Adidas Response CL series, the Nike P6000 series, the NB 610T series, the NB 860 V2 series and the NB's own 725 series. I think you do not have to spend lots of money to get real hidden gem kind of pairs.
