No other shoes I've ever owned lasted this long. I used them for a decade or longer a few days every week.
I loved them that much.
These are NB 760 OG Silver Royal Gold colorway from 2010, the OG model, not a retro pair.
I bought this amazing NB pair in 2010 in Chiangmai, Thailand.
This pair has been my all-time favorite shoes, and I will always keep them in my shoe graveyard. I've been looking for another pair in the same colorway....but NB does not recently retro them. I think in 2020, they did retro this colorway in ML760 XB but I missed that one. Now, they retroed the successor shoes to this one called the NB 860 V2 (from 2011).
These 760 and 860 series shoes were super comfy and very well made, for me they were ultimate Y2K walking/running shoes. I really loved them very much, actually I still love them like my best friends who already died of Aids.
Hope they retro these this year. I think I will cop a several pairs of these or more if they do retro them this year. Another great fact about these is that their midsole never crumble unlike the foam in the 990 v4 or v6.
I know no one in a sneaker forum or YouTube care about this type of shoes, but to me they are super special shoes, and nothing can replace them for me.
It really bugs me that all superficial temporal NB lovers that want to just flip shoes or follow the hype trends all just care about some of their retro 990 series shoes or 990V6.
These are nice shoes (for sure), but nothing really special to me, I prefer New Balance shoes from the y2k era originally designed in the last decade, airmaxes from the early 90's and some Y2K era Adidas runners now. I don't know why but I am a big fan of the big N and shiny flashy silver and gold 3M type materials that NB used back in the last decade and in the early 00's.
I also hate the shoes that will be crumbling in no time, say 4 - 6 years time. I really love Jordan 3, 4 and 5 silhouettes but these will be crumbling in just a few (a several most likely) years in this humid place. That's why I decided not to buy the Jordan 4 Lightening colorway, and I bought NB 550 Gray and Nike AF1 Athletic club black/yellow /white colorway instead. I think these will never crumble at least in this decade.
I still have a few pairs of AF1's from the 90's that my grand parents bought for my 6 or 7th birthday.
If I could get my feet into them, I'd still love them and probably rock them. I think the AF1's are timeless shoes and more universally loved shoes than Jordans, sure Jordans are much more popular in NA, but not in here or in Korea or like that.
In fact, Jordan 1s are no longer very popular in most part of Asia now. I also love Adidas Forum 84 Low and Nike Terminator Low.
I think the saddest reality is the most durable kind of timeless shoes are usually not really comfortable (or if I were brutally honest, I would say these are the least comfy shoes). The super comfy retro shoes like NB 990 V4, Adidas ZX8000 (except the Boost ones), Nike airmax 95, etc. will crumble in a decade or two due to their use of many low-grade plastic parts (TPUs). The Boost is quite durable foam, but the UB and the Yeezys have many parts of synthetic materials that will be crumbling in 5-8 years due to the infamous hydrolysis.
So now I am avoiding most Ultraboost except some OGs, 5.0s and 4.0s (these do not have many weak plastic parts like the 21, the 22, the 19, the20, 2.0 or 3.0).
And I never buy airmax 97 more than I can actually rotate (as they will all crumble in a decade or less time here).
Also, I try to avoid over 180 US dollar shoes that will crumble easily such as the 991, the 992, the 990 V2, the 993, the 998, the 1500, the 1400, etc.
That said I bought a pair of NB 920 UK a DS pair and that worked fine, but these are for walking (and not for casual wearing).
I also bought a pair of Ultraboost 20 DNA James Bond Grey one that Adidas called," No Time to Die".
I may get the Black Tuxedo too. I think the UK inspired Adidas shoes are super cool and so are UK NB shoes. I am a big fan of those UK NB shoes, and I think I will get many pairs of those in the next autumn.
I guess what I wanted to say here is what Brand is in now, Name of shoes or even hype does not matter anything to me or anyone who really loves unique sneakers, just get what you actually like. It really does not matter what others think about your style or shoes, unless you are buying most of pairs of shoes for reselling.
I sometimes resell too, but never try to chase the hype at Reddit or YouTube or like that. In fact, I love all sneaker brands and if I had the money, I'd probably buy all NB 991's, 9060, 2002R's, 1906R's, 860v2's and 550's ever released. I also love all airmax 1's and Vomero 5. Anyway, I really want to get a clean new pair of the NB 760 XB again in this colorway.
UPDATE: I sold all my Ultraboost James Bond series shoes and most Adidas Forums. I think I I've lost the biggest amount of money on my Adidas shoes, I never lost any money on my NB or Nike pairs, but I always lose some big amount of money on my Adidas and Puma shoes. So, I am getting tired of their shoes. I like some of them and use them, so I will continue to buy some shoes from them every year, but I will never buy thing expensive or even remotely close to that from them.
Also, Puma customer support and service team here is really the worst in the business. It is almost impossible to buy their shoes on their app if you once use VPN or like that on their site here. They keep blocking me and never allow me to check out. So, all shoes I wanted to buy from them on sell in this summer sold out. Compared to that insanely bad service team of Puma, Adidas is much better, but their shoes are really hard to resell without losing lots of money on them.
I think if you never sell their shoes, and you know you will use them, then Adidas shoes are fine and some of the best made shoes for the money, but if you ever sell them, the resell value is very bad even the Yeezy shoes.
