L2013_6945 - Exercise Tiger Memorial - Torcross - Devon - 2013

The Exercise Tiger Memorial stands in the car park at Torcross and the southern end of Slapton Sands. It comprises a Sherman Tank and plaques recalling the death of 639 servicemen who died in the Exercise Tiger disaster. The tank was recovered from the sea due to the efforts of local man the late Ken Small in 1984 and who arranged for it to be placed on display as a memorial.
