L1120191_02 Botallack Mine - 2005

The remains of the Brunton calciner the starting point for the extraction of arsenic from Botallack ores during the 1906-1914 re-working. Allen's Shaft head frame can be seen on the left this was erected by Geevor Tin Mines to explore Botallack in the 1980s. However, the crisis ended that dream.

The site is now in the care of the National Trust as part of the "Tin Coast".

This is one of my earlier digital images taken with a Leica Digilux 2.

Quite a good camera for its day and the one that persuaded me I could live without film!
